RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Adopt a Resolution to:
Authorize and direct the Auditor-Controller to amend the FY 2023-24 Sheriff-Coroner's Adopted Budget by increasing appropriations and estimated revenues by $404,787 (001-2300-SHE003-8238) financed by an operating transfer from AB109 2011 Public Safety Realignment, (022-2550-PRO002) for the purchase of contraband scanners. (4/5th vote required)

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) was authorized by the Board on September 13, 2023 (A-16581) to purchase two (2) Tek84 body scanners, wherein MCSO initially absorbed the cost.

MCSO worked with the Probation Department and Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) and subsequently found an alternate funding source to offset the cost of the expenditure.

On November 16, 2023, the CCP approved the Sheriff's Office AB109 request of $404,787 to fund the purchase of the two (2) scanners for the Jail from Tek84.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The County Administrative Office has reviewed this Report and the Budget Committee approved this request on January 31, 2024.

FINANCING:
The Sheriff's Office is asking for support from the Board to increase appropriations and estimated revenues of the Adopted Budget for FY 2023-24 in the amount of $404,787 for the purchase of contraband scanners for the jail. The Community Corrections Partnership approved the request for AB109 funding on November 16, 2023. There is no impact to the General Fund Contribution as a result of this action.
