RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Adopt Plans and Special Provisions for the Alisal Road Reconstruction, Project No. 1577 (Project) to reconstruct Alisal Road from Hartnell Road to Sconberg Parkway; and
b. Authorize the Director of Public Works, Facilities, and Parks to advertise the Project's "Notice to Bidders" in the Monterey County Weekly.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Alisal Road Reconstruction Project, in general, consists of reconstructing the existing roadway by pulverizing the existing pavement section and reutilizing it as road base, and overlaying it with hot mix asphalt (HMA) concrete. The Project limits are from the City of Salinas City Limit at Sconberg Parkway to Hartnell Road, approximately 2.3 miles in length. Alisal Road was identified as a top priority project under the Measure X program.
The bid opening for this Project is set for April 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., in the Board Chambers, Administration Building, Government Center, 168 West Alisal Street, Salinas, California 93901. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2024.
