RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve the submission of four (4) entries to the 2022 California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Challenge Awards competition: 1) District Attorney Office Cold Case Task Force (CCTF); 2) Civil Rights Office - Youth Presentations; 3) Civil Rights Office - Employee Resource Groups; and 4) Civil Rights Office - Online Self-Paced Mandated Civil Rights Training.
SUMMARY & DISCUSSION
Each year the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) invites counties to submit nominations for the CSAC Challenge Awards. These unique awards recognize the innovative and creative spirit of California county governments for finding new and effective ways of providing projects, programs and services to their citizens.
The following is an overview of the Monterey County entries recommended for submission to the 2022 competition.
District Attorney Office Cold Case Task Force (CCTF): Monterey County District Attorney CCTF (Cold Case Task Force), took on the largest and most comprehensive effort to identify, review, investigate, and prosecute unsolved homicide cases. - Exhibit A
Civil Rights Office - Youth Presentations: The Monterey County Civil Rights Office (CRO) partnered with Monterey County's Probation Department to develop and deliver cultural awareness and diversity presentations to youth within the justice system. - Exhibit B
