RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve Agreement between the City of Salinas and the County of Monterey for the Davis Road Bridge Replacement and Road Widening Project; and
b. Authorize the Director of Public Works, Facilities and Parks to sign the Agreement.
SUMMARY:
Approval of the Agreement between the City of Salinas and the County of Monterey for the Davis Road Bridge Replacement and Road Widening Project ("Agreement") is necessary to construct the Davis Road Bridge Replacement and Road Widening Project ("Project") and relocate the access to the City of Salinas Industrial Wastewater site (APN 207-201-001). The Agreement will provide Monterey County provide 5,243 square feet of permanent roadway easement and 45,614 square feet of temporary construction easement and from parcel APN 207-201-001 to construct the Project. The Agreement also provides Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a California corporation, a 19,466 square feet utility easement along its frontage with Davis Road to relocate an existing natural gas pipeline that is in conflict with the bridge construction.
DISCUSSION:
The Public Works, Facilities, and Parks Department (PWFP) is working on the right-of-way phase of the Davis Road Bridge Replacement and Road Widening Project. The Project consists of replacing the existing two-lane, low-level Davis Road Bridge (Bridge No. 44C-0068) over the Salinas River with a longer bridge that meets current American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) requirements.
