RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Budget Committee support the request to authorize the Auditor-Controller to amend the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 Adopted Budget, General Fund 001, Contributions-Other Agencies Appropriations Unit CAO007, to increase appropriations by $35,000, financed by a decrease in appropriations of $35,000 in General Fund 001, Contingencies Appropriation Unit CAO020 to contribute to the Pajaro/Sunny Mesa Community Services District (District) for Pajaro Neighborhood Park (Park) maintenance.

SUMMARY:
On November 22, 2022, the Board added Supervisor Phillips' Referral No. 2022.23 (Attachment A) to the Monterey County Board of Supervisors (Board) referral matrix. The referral is seeking to request a County funding contribution for FY 2022-23 and develop a long-range funding source for the Pajaro/Sunny Mesa Community Services District's (District) Pajaro Neighborhood Park (Park). Public Works, Facilities and Parks (PWFP) presented 3 options to the Board of Supervisors on January 17, 2023. The Board authorized a one-time contribution of $35,000 to be made to the District to support Park costs and directed staff to continue researching long-term funding options and return to the Board at a later date. PWFP staff recommends financing the $35,000 contribution from General Fund Contingencies.

DISCUSSION:
