RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors, as the code reviewing body, adopt a Resolution approving the Conflict of Interest Code of the Public Works, Facilities, & Parks Department of the County of Monterey (PWFP).
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Political Reform Act of 1974 (Government Code section 81000, et. seq.) requires the Public Works, Facilities, & Parks Department of the County of Monterey, as a newly formed agency, to prepare a Conflict of Interest code and submit it to the Board of Supervisors for its approval. The Department has prepared its proposed Conflict of Interest Code, which is attached hereto as Attachment B.
Pursuant to sections 82011 and 87303 of the Government Code, the Board of Supervisors is the code reviewing body and may approve the Code as submitted, revise the proposed Code and approve it as revised, or return the proposed Code to the agency for revision and resubmission. Staff recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the proposed Conflict of Interest Code of PWFP, a copy of which is attached hereto as Attachment B.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and approved the proposed Conflict of Interest Code of PWFP as to form and legality. The proposed Code is lawful under the Political Reform Act of 1974.
FINANCING:
Approval of this requested Conflict of Interest Code will have no financial impact upon the County of Monterey.
