Before the Board of Supervisors in and for the
County of Monterey, State of California
Resolution No: 09-238
Approve the Bylaws of the
Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council.
WHEREAS the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors established the
Juvenile JusticeCoordinating Council JJCC) on November 12, 1996;
WHEREAS Welfare and Institutions Code 749.22 requires counties to establish a multiagency
juvenile justice coordinating council to develop and implement a continuum of county-based
responses to
juvenile crime;
WHEREAS Welfare and Institutions Code 749.22 also establishes the minimal membership for
JJCC, and indicates that Chief Probation Officer shall serve as
council Chair for the duration of
his or her mandate;
WHEREAS other members include one representative each from the district attorney's office, the
public defender's office, the sheriffs department, the board of supervisors, the department of
social services, the department of mental health, a community-based drug and alcohol program, a
city police department, the county office of education or a school district, and an at-large
community representative. In addition, the
coordinating council includes representatives from
nonprofit community-based organizations providing services to minors; and
WHEREAS the
Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council is recommending the approval of its
bylaws;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Board approves the
Juvenile Justice CoordinatingCouncil bylaws dated April 1, 2009.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 28`x' day of April, 2009, upon motion of Supervisor Salinas,
seconded by Supervisor Parker, by the following vote, to-wit:
