RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and adopt revisions to the Bylaws of the Equal Opportunity Advisory Commission.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Equal Opportunity Advisory Commission, then referred to as the Affirmative Action Advisory Commission, was established pursuant to Resolution No. 72-274, dated July 11, 1972. The Commission was formed to advise and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on matters relating to equal opportunity as part of the Equal Opportunity Plan for County of Monterey.
The Bylaws of the Commission were recently updated and revised to reflect the title change of the Monterey Plan to the Equal Opportunity Plan for County of Monterey. In addition new language was included to allow any member of the Commission the opportunity to propose an item or policy for the Commission's consideration and adoption. The Commission also established new guidelines and protocols in regards to attendance. The revised bylaws were approved by the Equal Opportunity Advisory Commission during their meeting of July 17, 2013. Attachment (A) is the current Bylaws for the Commission and attachment (B) are the proposed revised Bylaws.

The amended Bylaws were reviewed by County Counsel.
