RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of the Information Technology Department to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Harris Corporation for Software FX security management services for the Next Generation Radio System, adding $5,042.00 for payment of taxes on taxable software products, for an amended contract amount of $441,042.

SUMMARY:
The County, acting through its Information Technology Department (ITD), currently is party to an Agreement with Harris Corporation to provide Software FX security management services for the County's Next Generation Radio System (NGEN). ITD recommends adding additional funding to the Agreement in order to pay taxes on specified taxable software products.

DISCUSSION:
The County has contracted with Harris Corporation to provide a digital public safety and local government voice and data radio networks systems, the NGEN System, as required by Federal Communications Commission mandate. In March 2017, the Board approved an agreement with Harris to provide Software FX security management services for the County's NGEN system. Through this Agreement, Harris Corporation provides technical support, on an as-needed basis, to ensure operational availability of critical public safety communications systems. It also provides patch management services for updating security related patches to the NGEN system.

ITD recommends adding funding to the Agreement to pay taxes on taxable software for software upgrades during the period of May 15, 2018 through May 14, 2019, which was not accounted for in the cost of the original A...
