RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Ratify the District Attorney's submission of a grant application to the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) for the Family Justice Center Program (FJ) in the amount of $400,000, and execute on behalf of the County the Grant Award Agreement, including any extension or amendments thereof.

SUMMARY:
The Office of the District Attorney recently received a Request for Proposal (RFP) from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) for the Family Justice Center (FJ) Program.
DISCUSSION:
This Program is to support emerging Family Justice Centers (FJC), the RFP is dated 2 October 2018 and the submissions are due no later than 5 November 2018. This will be a new program for the office and a new staff position will be needed that will be financed by the new funding. As with other funding obtained from CalOES, we anticipate this funding being sustained after the end of the grant period.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Once the grant approval has been received from CalOES, Requests to Classify (RTC) for any new positons will be submitted through the HR Department and to the Board for approval.
FINANCING:
With grant approval by CalOES and acceptance by the District Attorney, funding in the amount of approximately $200,000 per year, for two years, will be received by the County. Budget modifications to FY 2018-19 will be submitted through the Board of Supervisors, FY 2019-20 budget changes will be included in the normal budget preparation process. As the grant is fully funded by the State of California, no matching funds are required.
