RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Authorize the Chair of the Board to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Superior Court of California, County of Monterey for continued participation of four County agencies in the Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Treatment Court grant, in the amount of $250,000 retroactively for the period October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019; and
b. Authorize the Chair to sign Amendments to the MOU as required by the grant in case of extension.

SUMMARY:
The State's Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has approved a continuation grant award in the amount of $250,000 for the period October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019 to sustain the existing evidence-based DUI Treatment Court.

The Superior Court of California, County of Monterey serves as the lead agency for the collaboration, which includes four county agencies: Probation, District Attorney, Public Defender and Health Department-Behavioral Health Bureau.

DISCUSSION:
The Superior Court of California, County of Monterey was initially awarded a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety in the amount of $350,000 for the period October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016 to initiate an evidence-based DUI Court program. The program received continuation funding in the amount of $449,000 for the period October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017, and funding in the amount or $600,000 for the period October 1, 2017 to September 30, ...
