RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve adoption of the revised By-Laws of the Santa Cruz-Monterey-Merced Managed Medical Care Commission (SCMMMMCC) as amended.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
At its October 24, 2018 meeting, the SCMMMMCC voted unanimously to revise its bylaws and submit the bylaws, as revised, to the board of supervisors of Santa Cruz, Monterey and Merced Counties.
SCMMMCC revised its Bylaws have been revised as follows:
1. The Qualifications provision of the bylaws related to the Merced County membership have been revised to align with the revised Merced County Ordinance.
2. The Advisory Groups provisions have been revised to explicitly identify the Member Services Advisory Group as the Board's avenue for public policy participation as required by the State of California Department of Managed Health Care.
3. The bylaws have also been revised to reflect the change in title from Executive Director to Chief Executive Officer.
This item was approved on the consent agenda at the October 24, 2018 SCMMMMCC meeting.
This work supports the Monterey County Health Department 2018-2022 Strategic Plan Goal 3. Ensure access to culturally and linguistically appropriate, customer-friendly, quality health services. While this work is not directly in support of a Health Department strategic initiative, it is in support of one or more of the ten essential public health services, specifically: 7. Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Director of Health and the CEO of Natividad are appointed members of the Santa Cruz-Monterey-Merced Manager Medical Care Commission.
FINANCING:
The recommended action has no impact on the County budget.
