Report
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive an oral report from the Department of Social Services Aging and Adult Services Branch regarding the In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Aging and Adult Services (AAS) Branch administers the In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee (IHSSAC). The Committee submits recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and the AAS Branch, including IHSS and Public Authority, providing input on Monterey County IHSS services. As a part of that effort, Advisory Committee members assess the needs of IHSS providers and consumers, study proposed legislation, and review procedures and policies. In addition, members advocate for IHSS providers and consumers in local and state forums. Currently, there are five openings on the 11-member IHSSAC, and the Committee particularly needs members who are current or former consumers of IHSS or other personal care services.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
This presentation was reviewed and approved by the IHSSAC on September 17, 2019.

FINANCING:
There are no costs associated with the acceptance of this report and presentation.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
This agreement correlates to the Health and Human Services Strategic Key Objective adopted by the Board of Supervisors of improving health and quality of life through County supported policies, programs and services by ensuring that the needs of IHSS consumers and providers are taken into consideration when the AAS Branch develops policies and procedures related to IHSS and Public Authority.
