RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve the employment agreement with Leslie J. Girard as Monterey County Counsel and authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to execute the agreement.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors recently appointed Leslie J. Girard as County Counsel, succeeding Charles J. McKee, who has been appointed County Administrative Officer. It is necessary and appropriate to authorize the execution of an employment agreement for Mr. Girard’s services, pursuant to Government Code section 27640 et seq. The terms of the agreement have been negotiated by and are satisfactory to the County and Mr. Girard and are consistent with the County’s published salary schedule for the position and the County’s Personnel Policies and Practices Resolution.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The County Administrative Officer and the Human Resources Department Director reviewed and concur with the recommendation.
FINANCING:
The costs associated with this agreement are included in the budget for the Office of County Counsel.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
The appointment of a County Counsel will allow for the management and oversight of the Office of the County Counsel operations.
