Title: a. RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution to:
a. Transfer one (1) Communications Technician III position to County Administrative Office, Appropriation Unit CAO025, Budget Unit 8451- Fleet from Information Technology Department, Appropriation Unit INF002, Budget Unit 8437- Infrastructure, and reflect the change in position counts, as indicated in Attachment A (4/5ths vote); and
b. Authorize the Auditor-Controller and the County Administrative Office to incorporate these changes in the FY 2019-20 Budget.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
ITD recently reviewed its operations and core businesses and determined the position of Communications Technician III, underfilled with a Communications Technician I incumbent, is more appropriately aligned with the business and functions of the County Administrative Office (CAO), Fleet Division. The duties of this position include the installation and repair of radios, lights, sirens, controllers, antennas, and related equipment in public safety and non-public safety vehicles. The Fleet Division is currently responsible for the installation and repair of other vehicular systems. ITD has provided training to individuals within the Fleet Division since June 2019. As such, the installation and repair of public safety systems, as outlined above, should also fall under the Fleet Division. Correspondingly, ITD and CAO have agreed to transfer this position to CAO-Fleet.
