Title

Consider Receiving a report on “Well Permit Application Activities Update” and provide guidance to staff on recommended changes.

Report

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Basin Management Advisory Committee:

Receive a report on the “Well Permit Application Activities Update” and provide guidance to staff on recommended changes.

SUMMARY/ DISCUSSION :

Agency staff provides monthly updates on well permit application activities and construction of wells in the Deep Aquifers to the Board of Directors and the Basin Management Advisory Committee on a monthly basis. These updates originated as a means of reporting activities related to Agency responsibilities following adoption of the 2010 Monterey County General Plan.  With these additional activities now fully integrated into the well permit application process, Agency staff is recommending a less narrowly focused revision to the monthly well permit update that includes all categories of well permit applications reviewed by the Agency.  In addition, staff has produced an expanded report on construction of wells in the Deep Aquifers.  These revisions are included as Attachment 1.
