RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Capital Improvement Committee:
Support the proposal to amend the scope of the current Capital Improvement Program Project 8845 of the Agricultural Commissioner's Office located at 1428 Abbott Street in Salinas to include an additional Tenant Improvement to fix ADA Accessibility deficiencies and support operational needs.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Agricultural Commissioner prepared a Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan in 2017. The plan included increasing the number workstations within the existing footprint as staff needs necessitate. The plan has been updated through the years to include repairs to the Ag Center Conference Room. The original scope to increase the number of workstations was inadvertently removed; however, our needs have not changed. We need to add an additional workstation/office within the existing building to accommodate our operational needs. Approval now will allow the department to begin the project before the end of the fiscal year.

The proposed project scope includes constructing two walls creating a secure office area and an additional storage closet totaling approximately 150 square feet. The proposed secure office area will be used for the department's new Deputy in our Pest Detection program. This program has grown over the years requiring another supervisor. The additional office will ensure proper supervision and management.

ADA Path of Travel Improvements are included in this proposal which will fix some of the ADA accessibility deficiencies bringing the pathway into compliance with the California Building Code Chapter 11B, Division 2. Deficiencies have been identified as part of a ...
