RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution ratifying Proclamation of Local Emergency by the County Administrative Officer related to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The ratification of this emergency proclamation will allow the County and the Monterey County Department of Health to take all necessary actions to protect the public and mitigate the spread of this local health emergency.
The rapidly developing issues related to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus necessitated the proclamation of a local emergency which was signed into effect by the County Administrative Officer on March 6, 2020. Ratification and approval of this Proclamation of Local Emergency will provide Board confirmation of, and agreement with, the Proclamation made by the County Administrative Officer. This emergency proclamation shall not expire thirty days after issuance in compliance with the State proclamation of emergency issued by Governor Newsom.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The mitigation efforts of the foregoing conditions affecting the public in Monterey County include Monterey County Department of Health and the Monterey County Office of Emergency Services.
FINANCING:
This Proclamation of Local Emergency will also include the County of Monterey in any funding or recovery put forth by the State of California or Federal Government.
