RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution to:
Amend the
Bylaws of the Monterey County Children and Families Commission.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Children and Families Commission
Bylaws were established pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 130140.1(a)(1).
On January 7, 2020, the Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance No. 19-033 which amended Section 2.59.060 of the Monterey County Code to permit at large members of the Monterey County Children and Families Commission to continue to serve after they exceed a maximum of two consecutive terms, at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors until their successor is appointed. In addition, it clarified that that if a vacancy occurs prior the expiration of an at large member's term, a successor at large member may serve the remainder of the unexpired term, in addition to two additional consecutive three-year terms.
As such, Section IV of the
Bylaws now needs to be amended to reflect these changes. A draft version of the
Bylaws with an amended Section IV is attached to this report as Attachment 2. If approved, the changes will take effect immediately.
This item was approved on the consent agenda at the February 24, 2020 by the Monterey County Children and Families Commission.
