Reservoir Release Update
Report
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Reservoir Operations Advisory Committee receives monthly updates on the status of Agency reservoirs.

RESERVOIR ELEVATION / STORAGE: As of June 18, 2020, San Antonio Reservoir has a water surface elevation of approximately 718.75 feet (NGVD 29), with 100,850 acre-feet of storage. Nacimiento Reservoir has a water surface elevation of approximately 757.45 feet, with 177,365 acre-feet of storage. San Antonio Reservoir is currently at 30% of storage capacity and Nacimiento Reservoir is at 47% of capacity.

RESERVOIR RELEASES: The Agency continues to make conservation releases from both reservoirs to recharge the Salinas Valley Groundwater Basin and provide flows in support of the Salinas River Diversion Facility (SRDF) with required steelhead passage flows to the Salinas River Lagoon. Current release rates are 435 cfs from Nacimiento Reservoir and 150 cfs from San Antonio Reservoir.

Total current releases of 585 cfs are providing for conservation releases including operation of the SRDF which began on April 21st. Changes to the normal apportionment of reservoir releases brought a temporary reduction at Nacimiento and a commensurate increase at San Antonio in order to enable needed maintenance of four valves within the Low-Level Outlet Works of Nacimiento Dam, which began the second week of May and was completed on June 12th.

The Salinas River Lagoon has been closed since May 20th after having opened to the ocean on April 7th.

Minor fluctuations in release rates are not presented in this report but are documented in the Salinas Valley Water Project Annual Flow Reports.

Releases as of May 20, 2020:
* Nacimiento Reservoir: 435 cfs
* San Antonio Reservoir: 150 cfs

Total releases from both reservoirs to the Salinas River are approximately 585 cfs. The following "provisional" flows have been recorded by the USG...
