RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign Amendment #1 to Agreement No. A-14413 with Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula to provide congregate meals and health promotion services to seniors on the Monterey Peninsula retroactively to May 1, 2020, adding $154,475, increasing the contract total to $560,750 for a contract term of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This Agreement expands congregate (group dining) into Marina at a newly built low income senior housing site managed by CHISPA, provides additional health promotion classes that will focus on physical fitness to be offered at the Sally Griffin Active Living Center in Pacific Grove; and provide some additional kitchen equipment.

These services are possible due to an increase in Federal and State funding available for the remainder of the current fiscal year. This revised agreement is retroactive to May 1, 2020 and was delayed due to some contracting issues. The Department is recommending Amendment # 1 to add $154,475 and it is in alignment with the Federal Older Americans Act (OAA).

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this agreement. County Counsel has approved the agreement as to form.

FINANCING:
Funding is provided by the Older Americans Act and the California Department of Aging. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues in SOC010 are included in the FY 2019-20 Adopted Budget.
