RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a) Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement for $125,750 with Central Coast VNA & Hospice, Inc. for the provision of a Public Health Nurse at the CHERISH Receiving Center for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022; and
b) Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($12,575) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Through this Agreement, the Department of Social Services continues its support of children subjected to abuse, neglect, and the trauma experienced through removal from their homes by providing a Public Health Nurse at the CHERISH Receiving Center.

Nursing support consists of completing medical assessments of youth who have been removed and temporarily placed at the CHERISH Receiving Center. Activities include screening and assessment of the health needs of children who are taken into protective custody and awaiting placement in a foster home.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this Agreement. County Counsel has approved the Agreement as to form.
