RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve a recommendation from the Legislative Committee to support SB 714 (Caballero) Democratic Party: county central committees: appointment and election.

SUMMARY:
Senator Anna Caballero is requesting that the Board of Supervisors take a support position on her legislation, SB 714(Caballero) Democratic Party: county central committees: appointment and election. At the May 20, 2021 meeting of the Legislative Committee the Committee received a report and recommended that the Board adopt a support position on SB 714.

DISCUSSION:
SB 714 (Caballero) Democratic Party: county central committees: appointment an election.
This bill would allow a person to be eligible for appointment or election to a county central committee for the Democratic Party of California (Democratic Party) if the person has a recognized affiliation, as defined by the party. The bill would amend election code to allow aspiring citizens such as DREAMERS to be appointed and elected to positions such as county central committees.
