RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

Consider adopting an urgency ordinance requiring the use of face coverings indoors by all persons over the age of two (2) regardless of vaccination status, with limited exceptions (4/5ths vote required).

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

In order to provide for the immediate health, safety and welfare of all residents of the County in light of the current conditions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Supervisors should consider adopting an urgency ordinance implementing an indoor facial covering requirement in both the unincorporated and incorporated areas of the County, with limited exceptions.  A more thorough discussion is enclosed as Attachment A, and a draft ordinance is enclosed as Attachment B.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The County Administrative Office concurs in the recommendation.

 

FINANCING:

There is no direct financial impact to the County from this ordinance.  There may be indirect impact due to enforcement efforts by various departments.
