RECOMMENDATION/SUMMARY:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

Approve and authorize the Library Director and/or her Designee to enter into Amendment 1 to Agreement by and between Monterey County and Farber Specialty Vehicles, Inc., extending the original term of the Agreement from March 21, 2021 through March 30, 2022 to a new revised term of March 21, 2021 through June 30, 2022, with no change to the total agreement amount.

DISCUSSION:

The Monterey County Free Libraries contracted with Farber Specialty vehicles on January 21, 2021 for a new North County Bookmobile (Agreement #A-15088). This project (CIP #61108) is funded by a $250,000 grant from the California State Library, and an allocation of $125,000 from the County.

The vehicle build has been delayed due to multiple supply chain issues throughout the nationwide economy and particularly vehicle manufacturing. After a delay awaiting the chips for the base truck, the vendor is now awaiting parts for the installation of the system that will allow the vehicle to have components powered by solar panels. Both the vendor and the staff of the Monterey County Free Libraries are doing what they can to keep the project on track.

Therefore, the recommendation is to extend the contract to June, 2022, thus modifying the Agreement in terms of the end date (from March 31, 2022 to June 30, 2022).

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Amendment as to its form and content. Budget Analysis has been consulted regarding the modification of this contract's terms.
