RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign a funding agreement with the California Department of Aging, Grant Agreement No. NI-2223-32, in the amount of $727,648 for senior nutrition infrastructure services retroactive to October 1, 2022, for the term of October 1, 2022 through December 31, 2024;
b. Approve and authorize the Director or Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services to sign all amendments to the Agreement.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Mello-Granlund Older Californians Act funding for the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Senior Nutrition Infrastructure Grant Program (NI) provides $38 million statewide of one-time funding over three years, to Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to support the capacity and infrastructure improvements for senior nutrition programs.

The HCBS NI funding is intended to support AAAs and their senior nutrition program service providers to purchase, upgrade, or refurbish infrastructure for the production and distribution of congregate or home-delivered meal programs.

The Monterey County AAA plans to utilize its allocation of the HCBS NI funding in the amount of $727,648, to support three separate nutrition programs that provide home-delivered meals and operate congregate meal sites in Monterey County.
