SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) has the ability to see license plate data (i.e., stolen cars, child abductions, etc.) that has been uploaded to a nationwide database via CLEAR. On October 1, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved a three (3) year non-standard agreement with Vigilant for license plate recognition software licenses, which gave MCSO the ability to upload information into the database (which it previously did not have the ability to do). This amendment to the agreement with Vigilant will continue to give the MCSO the ability to upload information into the database, and thereby, fully participate in the fight against crime.
MCSO request approval of this amendment.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and advised on this agreement as to legal form and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed for fiscal provisions.
FINANCING:
The cost of this Agreement was included in the Sheriff's FY 2024-25 Adopted Budget. There will be no increase in General Fund Contribution as a result of this Action.
