Before the Board of Supervisors in and for the
County of Monterey, State of California
Resolution No: 08-187
Honoring Dave Mora for his many years of
service to the City of Salinas.
WHEREAS, Dave and Judy Mora have made Salinas their home for 18 years having raised
their daughters Gabi and Teresa here; and
WHEREAS, Dave Mora has been in public service for over thirty-five years, having been hired
to be City Manager of Salinas on September 10, 1990 and in this capacity de onstrated excellent
stewardship of the City's finances, increasing the City's General Fund reserve from $256
dollars to $12 million during his years at the helm; and
WHEREAS, Dave Mora was a moving force behind the Monte Bella and Williams Ranch
housing developments and in the creation of the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority helping
Monterey County increase its waste capacity and recovery over four-fold; and
WHEREAS, Dave Mora's vision and leadership were instrumental in the construction of the
National Steinbeck Center, the Maya Cinemas and parking garage, the impro ed one-stop
Permitting Center, the Westridge Shopping Center, and the Salinas Auto Mall and
WHEREAS, Dave Mora has also been a leader in his profession, serving as President of the
International Association of City Managers and on the League of Cities' Boar and most
importantly Dave Mora has been an instrumental and critical component in th growth and
transformation of the City of Salinas over the past two decades.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Monterey County Boar of Supervisors, on
behalf of the County and all citizens thereof, thanks Dave Mora for his long and outstanding
service to the City of Salinas, and for the many important contributions he has made to its
citizens.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 24`h day of June, 2008, upon motion of Supervisor Calcagno,
seconded by Supervisor Salinas, by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Supervisors Armenta, Calcagno, Salinas, Mettee-McCutchon,Potter
