RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or their designee to execute Amendment 4 (November 8, 2023 to March 31, 2024) to the Request for Proposals (RFP) #10614, for Religious Services for the Monterey County Jail, with Prison Ministry of America (to allow time to release and award a new RFP), in the amount of $33,576 for a new not to exceed contract cost of $509,405.

 

SUMMARY:

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is recommending the approval of this amendment. The Prison Ministries of America provides religious services for adults currently in custody at the Monterey County Jail.  This amendment will allow MCSO the time to prepare (advertise and award) a formal Request for Proposal for a variety of Religious Services for the Monterey County Jail.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel and the Auditor/Controller have reviewed this document and approved as to legal and fiscal provisions, respectively.

 

FINANCING:

There will be no impact on the General Fund Contribution as a result of this recommendation.  The costs will be reimbursed by the Inmate Welfare Fund which is established per Penal Code 4025 (e).
