licensing and support which was signed by the
Director of Information Technology on March 28,
2006;
b. Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing
Officer to execute a Purchase Order with IBM, Inc.
for software licensing and support in the amount of
$195,000 for the period July 1, 2010 through June
30, 2011 and $200,000 for the period July 1, 2011
through June 30, 2012; and
c. Include funding in the FY 2010-11 Budget and in
the FY 2011-12 Recommended Budget
Upon motion of Supervisor Salinas, seconded by Supervisor Annenta, and carried by
those members present, the Board hereby;
a. Ratified the agreement with IBM, Inc. for software licensing and support
which was signed by the Director of Information Technology on March 28,
2006;
b. Approved and authorized the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to execute a
Purchase Order with IBM, Inc. for software licensing and support in the
amount of $195,000 for the period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 and
$200,000 for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012; and
c. Included funding in the FY 2010-11 Budget and in the FY 2011-12
Recommended Budget.

SUBJECT: a. Request the Board of Supervisors ratify the agreement with IBM, Inc. for
software licensing and support which was signed by the Director of Information
Technology on March 28, 2006;
b. Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to execute a Purchase
Order with IBM, Inc. for software licensing and support in the amount of
$195,000 for the period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 and $200,000 for

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors
a. Ratify the agreement with IBM, Inc. for software licensing and support which was signed by
the Director of Information Technology on March 28, 2006;
b. Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to execute a Purchase Order with
IBM, Inc. for software licensing and support in the amount of $195,000 for the period July 1,
2010 through June 30, 2011 and $200,000 for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012;
c. Funding is included in the FY 2010-11 Budget and in the FY 2011-12 Recommended
Budget
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
IBM, Inc. supplies software licensing and support for a variety of software products required to
operate the County's legacy mainframe computer system, which supports multiple critical
County applications, including Criminal Justice Information Systems. The software licensing
and support costs result in a requirement for Board approval due to the dollar amount.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The agreement has been reviewed and approved by County Counsel and Contracts/Purchasing.
FINANCING:
The cost for Fiscal Year 10/11 was anticipated and budgeted for in the Fiscal Year 2010-11
budget under line account 001-1930-8137-6408 Information Technology, Appropriation Code
INF 002, and anticipated cost is also included in the 011-12 Recommended Budget.
