RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or Contracts/Purchasing Supervisor to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Standard Agreement Multi-Year Agreement (MYA)*5965 between the County of Monterey and Quinn Company, dba Quinn Power Systems, for County generator preventative maintenance, repair and emergency work for Public Works, Facilities and Parks, to increase the not to exceed amount by $200,000, for a total not to exceed amount of $300,000.
SUMMARY/ DISCUSSION
The County and Quinn Company, dba Quinn Power Systems (hereinafter “Quinn Power”) have negotiated an amendment to Agreement MYA*5965 to increase the not to exceed amount by $200,000, for a total not to exceed amount of $300,000. The Amendment will allow Quinn Power to continue to provide generator maintenance and repair services for Public Works, Facilities and Parks (PWFP). As additional locations and/or new generators are added to PWFP service responsibilities, additional funding is also needed to cover increased costs.
The County maintains more than twenty (20) backup generators at its facilities, including radio tower sites, which are a critical part of maintaining County operations during power disruptions. Generators require regular preventative maintenance, as well as emergency work to address breakdowns. This amendment allows the County to ensure continuing operations at certain County facilities during utility outages.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Office of the County Counsel has reviewed and approved Amendment No. 1 as to form. The Auditor-Controller’s Office has reviewed proposed Amendment No. 1 as to fiscal provisions.
FINANCING:
There is no minimum guaranteed work under this Agreement. Funding for individual work orders is verified within the approved budget allocations prior to commencement of work. The proposed not to exceed amount of $300,000 for Agreement MYA*5965 is intended to allow services to continue in future fiscal years.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
The Board’s approval of Amendment No. 1 will allow the County to continue to conduct preventative maintenance and operate critical County facilities for its employees and the public.
