Approve and authorize the Director of the Emergency Communications Department to sign a no cost agreement with Aramark Services Inc., doing business as Aramark Correctional Services, Limited Liability Corporation to provide MicroMarket food services at the Emergency Services Center for a term of August 12, 2026 through June 30, 2031;

SUMMARY:

This agreement is for Aramark Services Inc., doing business as (dba) Aramark Correctional Services, Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) (Aramark) to provide a MicroMarket at the Emergency Services Center.  The MicroMarket offers beverages, shelf-stable and fresh food for sale to employees and guests of the building and will be located in the shared kitchen.  The County does not contribute any funding and the person buying the food is solely responsible for the cost.

The County of Monterey Emergency Services Center is the building that houses the Emergency Communications Department (ECD) and the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and its Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

DISCUSSION:

The ECD is a consolidated public safety answer point (PSAP) and dispatch facility serving 29 law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency medical services (EMS) response agencies throughout Monterey County.  Since ECD is a 24/7 Department, having on-site food options always available will be very impactful to employee well-being.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT/COMMITTEE ACTIONS:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved this agreement to legal form.  Risk Management has reviewed the non-standard insurance and indemnification provisions.  Contracts/Purchasing has reviewed and approved this agreement.  The Auditor-Controller does not approve the non-standard terms.

FINANCING:

This is a no-cost agreement and will not have any impact on the General Fund.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS:

This agreement corresponds to the Safe And Resilient Communities Board Of Supervisors Strategic Plan Goal by providing support services for the 24/7 Emergency Communications Dispatchers and staff to provide emergency call-taking and dispatch.
