RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services or designee to sign an agreement with Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Association, Inc. for family caregiver support services for Monterey County residents for the period of September 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, in the amount of $87,270 including nonstandard indemnification and confidentiality provisions; and

b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services or designee to sign up to three amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($8,727) of the amended contract amount, do not significantly change the scope of work, and do not exceed the maximum aggregate amount of $95,997.


SUMMARY:
The Alzheimer’s Association provides Family Caregiver Support Program services to older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers in the County of Monterey.


DISCUSSION:
The Alzheimer’s Association provides Family Caregiver Support Program services in the form of Access Services: Caregiver Information Service activities; Information Services: Caregiver Information and Assistance contacts; Support Services: Caregiver Counseling hours and Caregiver Support Group session to older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their family caregivers within the County of Monterey.

 

Due to the specialized nature of the services, the Department recommends approval of this agreement which includes nonstandard indemnification and confidentiality provisions.


OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT/COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved the requested changes as to form, as has the Auditor-Controller’s Office as to financial provisions.


FINANCING:
This agreement is funded with Older Americans Act, Title III E, Family Caregiver Support Funds. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues in the Area Agency on Aging 001-5010-SOC010 are included in the FY 2026-2027 Adopted Budget.


BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS: 
This agreement correlates to the Well-Being and Quality of Life Strategic Plan Goal adopted by the Board of Supervisors by providing essential services to older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their family caregivers designed to help households caring with people with Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementia within the County of Monterey live with dignity and safety in their own homes.
