RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute the no extension Fourth Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Pediatric Gastroenterology Medical Associates of Santa Clara Valley to provide pediatric gastroenterology services at NMC adding $50,000, for a revised not to exceed amount of $150,000 for the full term of the agreement, September 1, 2011 to June 30, 2017.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Natividad Medical Center operates the D’Arrigo Family Specialty Services Outpatient Clinic offering over 15 different specialty care services including pediatric gastroenterology. NMC has an agreement with Pediatric Gastroenterology Medical Associates of Santa Clara Valley, for which Marjorie McCracken M.D., a board certified pediatric gastroenterologist, provides services, thus allowing Monterey County children and their families to remain closer to home for specialized pediatric care. The agreement was effective September 1, 2011; and amended September 1, 2012; September 1, 2013 and July 1, 2015 to extend the term. NMC now wishes to amend the agreement to add funds for the remainder of the agreement due to an increased number of clinics provided to accommodate the increased patient volume as of August 2015. This amendment does not change the rate of pay per clinic. NMC has obtained an independent opinion of fair market value supporting the payment terms of this Agreement.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Agreement as to legal form and risk provisions. Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this Agreement as to fiscal provisions. The Agreement has also been reviewed and approved by Natividad Medical Center’s Finance Committee on February 25, 2016 and Board of Trustees on March 4, 2016.
FINANCING:
The cost of this Amendment is $50,000. The total not to exceed amount of this Agreement is $150,000 for the period September 1, 2011 to June 30, 2017. $23,800 was disbursed in Fiscal Year 2011/2012; $19,600 was disbursed in Fiscal Year 2012/2013; $12,600 was disbursed in Fiscal Year 2013/2014; $14,000 was disbursed in Fiscal Year 2014/2015. $21,400 was included in the Fiscal Year 2015/2016 Adopted Budget, of which $16,800 has been disbursed. There is no impact to the General Fund.
