RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a. Authorize the Contracts Purchasing Officer or their designee to execute Amendment #2 with Aramark Services Inc., dba Aramark Correctional Services, to provide food operations and commissary services for incarcerated persons within the Monterey County Jail, replacing Exhibit A Scope of Services with Exhibit A-1, with no changes to the contract not to exceed amount of $10,000,000 or term date ending on June 30, 2028; and

b. Authorize the Contracts Purchasing Officer or their designee to execute amendments as necessary to implement items in Aramark’s response to RFP#10788, where amendments do not significantly change the scope of work.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Board of Supervisors approved the Request for Proposal (RFP) #10788 for Inmate Food Operation Services and/or Commissary System, Goods and Services for the County Adult Detention Facility on September 26, 2023.

 

The three (3) kiosks located within the Monterey County Corrections facility or County Jail located in Salinas are currently serviced by Telmate/GTL. Aramark and Telmate/GTL worked hand in hand to ensure the system worked seamlessly.

 

This board report is requesting approval of Amendment #2 which would allow Aramark to service the three (3) kiosks’ since Telmate/GTL will no longer be providing service to the County Jail; along with requesting approval to amend the agreement as necessary to implement items in Aramark’s response to RFP #10788.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and advised on this Agreement as to legal form. The Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved the Agreement as to fiscal provisions.

 

FINANCING:

The cost of this contract is included in the FY 2024-25 Adopted Budget, and ongoing costs will be included in future year budgets.  There will be no increase in the General Fund Contribution resulting from this Board action.
