RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Authorize the Registrar of Voters to consolidate and provide specified election services for the August 29, 2023, Santa Lucia Community Services District Special Election.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Division 10 of the California Elections Code provides that a city or district may, by resolution, request that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Registrar of Voters to provide the jurisdiction with election services.
Resolution No. 23-06 was passed by the Santa Lucia Community Services District on May 23, 2023 giving notice of holding an election for the Santa Lucia Community Services District on August 29, 2023 and requesting that the County Registrar of Voters provide election services. A copy of the District’s Resolution No. 23-06 is attached as Exhibit A.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Santa Lucia Community Services District adopted Resolution No. 23-06 requesting that the Registrar of Voters provide election services for the Santa Lucia Community Services District August 29, 2023 election. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the recommendation.
FINANCING:
California Elections Code Section 10002 mandates that all jurisdictions requesting election services from the County shall reimburse the County for the services performed. The Santa Lucia Community Services District shall reimburse the County in full for the services performed. There will be no additional cost to the County General Fund associated with this recommendation.
