Resolution No. 06-106
Adopt Resolution Commending the North
Fremont Business District of Monterey for
Special Recognition by the Friends of the
Monterey County Fair for their efforts in
bringing Monterey on Ice" to the Montere~,
Peninsula
WHEREAS, the North Fremont Business District of Monterey is a volunteer driven
organization, established on November 4, 2003, with the mission of preserving,
revitalizing, and promoting the North Fremont Business District, through broad-based
community support and serving the needs o� the local neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, the North Fremont Businesip District of Monterey works to create a
physically attractive, thriving center for working, shopping, and living; and
WHEREAS, the District strives to create, an environment to enhance the economic
vitality and quality of life for the community'.,; and
WHEREAS, the District is committed toy providing the highest degree of volunteer
service with integrity and professionalism; to providing fiscally sound management,
including the development of revenue j generating programs; and to promoting
revitalization to benefit North Fremont merchants, property owners, residents and City
government; and

WHEREAS, the goals of the District are to improve the visual appearance, safety and
ambiance of the area through the use of streetscape improvements, curb appeal upgrades,
accessibility and safety; to develop a unified business identity to the public through
marketing and networking; and to develop economic vitality within the District; and
WHEREAS, in November, 2005 the North Fremont Business District of Monterey
created a successful new community event,! Monterey on Ice", in partnership with the
Monterey County Fairgrounds and the Ce6tral Coast Skating Association, and with
generous support of sponsors, donors, and nearly 13,000 participating skaters plus
spectators.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLED that the Monterey County Board of
Supervisors on behalf of the County and all its citizens thereof, hereby commends the
North Fremont Business District of Monterey for special recognition by the Friends of
the Monterey County Fair for its exemplary service to the City of Monterey, North
Fremont business and property owners, and its residents.
