b. Authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the County of Monterey, Project 8810 Bid 10301 Agricultural Commissioner's Addition and Renovation, 1428 Abbott Street, Salinas CA, Earthwork Component, performed by Monterey Peninsula Engineering.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution:
a. Accepting the Certificate of Completion for construction of the County of Monterey, Project 8810 Bid 10301 Agricultural Commissioner's Addition and Renovation, 1428 Abbott Street, Salinas CA, Earthwork Component, performed by Monterey Peninsula Engineering; and
b. Authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the County of Monterey, Project 8810 Bid 10301 Agricultural Commissioner's Addition and Renovation, 1428 Abbott Street, Salinas CA, Earthwork Component, performed by Monterey Peninsula Engineering.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On December 6, 2011, the Board awarded a contract to Monterey Peninsula Engineering for construction of the County of Monterey, Project 8810 Bid 10301 Agricultural Commissioner's Addition and Renovation, 1428 Abbott Street, Salinas CA, Earthwork Component (Project). The Project consisted of the demolition of existing landscape and irrigation, earth scarification, soils export, and rough and fine grading in preparation for the landscape and irrigation. One change order was issued in the amount of $500. The contract is complete in all respects in accordance with the plans and special provisions. The work is ready to be accepted by the Board of Supervisors.
The Landscape and Irrigation Component scope of work is complete and the final ninety day maintenance period is closing.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None.
FINANCING:
There is no financial impact to the General Fund. The total estimated cost for the Earthwork Component, including staff project management, construction, and contingency was $36,050. The complete renovation project, which includes the building, landscaping and earthwork, has been fully funded and budgeted at $3,929,253. Pay applications to Monterey Peninsula Engineering in the amount of $23,400 have been processed and a balance of $2,600 retainage is due. Costs to date total $3,880,446 for a project balance of $48,807. The funding is secured in Capital Projects, Fund 402, Unit 8174, Project 8810.
