RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health Services or designee to execute Amendment No. 1 to Standard Agreement A-15814 with Jackson & Coker LocumTenens, LLC to increase the total agreement amount by $2,500,000 for psychiatry services, with no change to the term, for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $7,500,000.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Locum Tenens are licensed Physicians and Healthcare Professionals that are Board Certified or Board Eligible, or have equivalent training and experience. Jackson & Coker LocumTenens, LLC provides temporary medical services in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and County laws, rules, regulations, and policies. The County of Monterey engages Physicians who provide Locum Tenens services in areas of critical medical need where sufficient permanent staffing is not available. Jackson & Coker LocumTenens, LLC refers Locum Tenens Psychiatric Service Providers for the provision of mental health treatment services to adults and children with psychiatric impairments and disabilities.
This Amendment No. 1 will ensure the continued provision of essential mental health, medication support, primary care, and specialty care for clients of County of Monterey Health Department’s Behavioral Health Bureau.
This work supports the County of Monterey Health Department 2025-2028 Strategic Plan Goal(s): 3. Ensure access to culturally and linguistically appropriate, customer-friendly, quality health services. It also supports one of the ten essential public health services, specifically: 8) Assure a competent public and personal health care workforce.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The office of the County Counsel and Auditor-Controller have reviewed and approved this Amendment No. 1 as to legal form and fiscal provisions, respectively.
FINANCING:
This Agreement is funded by Realignment and Federal Financial Participation (FFP). The funds for this Agreement are included in the Health Department Behavioral Health Bureau (HEA012, Unit 8410) Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-25 Adopted Budget.
