SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
It is requested that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Chief Information Officer to sign a non-standard Agreement with Global Knowledge Training LLC for technical training to include Microsoft 365, Exchange, Security and other training options, live online or on premises for Information Technology Department staff on an as-needed basis.
The proposed agreement will enable Global Knowledge Training LLC to deliver live online and, when necessary, customized on-site training sessions. These technical trainings are essential to ensure that ITD staff maintain the advanced skills and expertise required to support the County’s enterprise systems and critical business services. As technology rapidly evolves, continuous training is necessary to keep pace with emerging tools, security protocols, and infrastructure demands.
This training will enhance staff competencies by addressing current skill gaps, offering scalable learning resources, and providing industry-recognized certifications. By aligning with real-world applications and current industry standards, these trainings will strengthen workforce readiness, improve operational performance, and ensure the County remains agile and resilient in its technology operations.
The terms of this agreement are non-standard to the County, but common for training software subscription services. Therefore, the Chief Information Officer recommends the approval of this recommended action.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed this non-standard Agreement. The Auditor-Controller has reviewed the Agreements but does not agree with the non-standard payment provisions.
FINANCING:
The funds in the amount of $20,000 for Fiscal Year 2024-25 have been included in Adopted Budget for the Information Technology Department, ITD 1930, Appropriations Unit INF002. Transactions relating to each fiscal year will be included in each respective Requested Budget.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
The services provided pursuant to this agreement will support staff training and knowledge of software products used by County employees.
