RECOMMENDATION:

 

Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute amendment No. 1 to the agreement with Huron Consulting Services, LLC for advisory consulting services, extending the agreement an additional one (1) year period (June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023) for a revised full agreement term of June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2023, and adding $185,000 for additional services for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $247,000.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

 

NMC originally entered into a service agreement with Huron Consulting Services (Huron) for analysis and benchmarking services to be performed for specific Professional Service Agreements such as call pay coverage and medical directorship services. The data and consulting provided assists NMC leadership in defining governance processes, contract components, and ongoing benchmark techniques. NMC is now wishing to amend the agreement to add services.  The new services will help identify workforce management improvements within its radiology department. It will include a robust assessment which will ultimately lead to opportunities for optimized workflows and improved patient care.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

 

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved this amendment No. 1 as to form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. The amendment No. 1 has also been reviewed and approved by NMC’s Finance Committee and by its Board of Trustees on April 8, 2022.

 

FINANCING:

 

The cost for this amendment No. 1 is $185,000 of which $60,000 which is included in the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Recommended Budget. Amounts for remaining years of the agreement will be included in those budgets as appropriate.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

 

The consulting services provided by Huron yield data that assists hospital administration with strategic planning as well as operational and financial decision making.
