Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute an agreement with MedMove Consulting, LLC for Medical Consulting services at NMC for an amount not to exceed $300,000 with an agreement term September 4, 2020 through September 3, 2022.

RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

 

Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute an agreement with MedMove Consulting, LLC for Medical Consulting services at NMC for an amount not to exceed $300,000 with an agreement term September 4, 2020 through September 3, 2022.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

 

MedMove consulting group has 25 years of experience in developing processes to improve the management of hospital owned and rentals of medical equipment.  Their expertise includes a review of current usage and handling of medical equipment, develop best practices for each department, determine if a centralized distribution for all medical equipment is the best for the hospital, standardize type of equipment to achieve best pricing and propose a technology to track medical equipment by location and by room.

 

Medical equipment purchases and rentals for beds, ventilators, pumps, etc have increased substantially due to the Covid-19 and there is a need to develop and implement an efficient process to manage these assets.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

 

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved this agreement as to form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. The has also been reviewed and approved by NMC’s Finance Committee and  Board of Trustees on July 10, 2020.

 

FINANCING:

 

The cost for this agreement is $300,000 of which $150,000 is included in the Fiscal Year 2020-21 Adopted Budget. Amounts for remaining years of the agreement will be included in those budgets as appropriate.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

 

This agreement is for executive level consulting services, the outcome of which will contribute to a more efficient use of resources within the organization.
