a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement in tandem with Alisal Union School District for $85,000 to provide congregate meals to seniors in Salinas for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 including nonstandard indemnification provisions; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to the agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($8,500) of the original contract amount and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement in tandem with Alisal Union School District for $85,000 to provide congregate meals to seniors in Salinas for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 including nonstandard indemnification provisions; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to the agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($8,500) of the original contract amount and do not significantly change the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This Agreement was awarded to the Alisal Union School District (AUSD) through a formal Request For Proposal (RFP #10785) process in April 2021. Contract services provide congregate meals to seniors living in the Salinas area. Meals at group dining locations are currently offered in accordance with safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic and practices may change as needed throughout the fiscal year.
The Department is recommending approval of this Agreement with nonstandard mutual indemnity provisions to allow DSS to continue to work with AUSD to provide congregate meals within this service area.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this agreement. County Counsel has approved the agreement as to form.
FINANCING:
Funding is provided by the Federal Older Americans Act. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues in SOC010 are included in the FY 2021-22 Recommended Budget.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
This Agreement correlates to the Health & Human Services Strategic Initiative adopted by the Board of Supervisors by working towards the goals of improving health and quality of life outcomes by providing nutrition services to seniors in Monterey County.
