RECOMMENDATION/SUMMARY:
a. Approve and authorize the Library Director to execute a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) for the term of February 25, 2025 to February 24, 2028 with the Pacific Grove Unified School District on behalf of Pacific Grove Adult Education (“PGAE”) to partner with Monterey County on Behalf of the Monterey County Free Libraries, to provide workshops and other learning opportunities and
b. Authorize the Library Director to execute up to three future annual amendments to the agreement that do not significantly alter the scope of work
DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) offer a wide variety of services and programs that enrich the lives of the communities we serve. This partnership will allow a variety of adult educational opportunities, programs, and services to be offered at County Library locations at no charge to the public. It will expand the options and offerings from PGAE in library facilities, enabling community agencies to share local knowledge and resources and allowing all community members to try new things free of charge.
This MOU is intended to create an ongoing partnership, detail obligations and responsibilities for both agencies, and ensure appropriate liability coverage for these offerings.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and approved the MOU as to legal form. A copy of the MOU will be placed on file with Clerk of the Board.
FINANCING:
The MOU contains no financial provisions between the two agencies, and will not impact the General Fund.
