RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve dissolution of the Board of Supervisors/Natividad Medical Center Joint Leadership Committee;
b. Approve dissolution of the Parks Ad Hoc Committee;
c. Approve establishment of Board of Supervisors standing committee for Parks; and
d. Approve proposed assignment of Board of Supervisors members and staff to boards, committees, and commissions for calendar year 2017.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Members of the Board of Supervisors are assigned to serve on various standing or ad hoc committees of the Board as well as various agencies, joint power authorities and miscellaneous committees. In addition, in several instances, staff are also appointed to serve as alternates or representatives to various agency committees or other groups. The appointments are typically approved at the first meeting of the calendar year and are valid for the remainder of the calendar year unless modified by action of the Board. Staff is recommending that due to the expected need for ongoing policy direction the Parks Ad Hoc Committee be dissolved and reconstituted as a new standing committee of the Board. After consultation with the Natividad Medical Center (NMC) Chief Executive Officer, staff is recommending that it is appropriate to dissolve the Board of Supervisors/NMC Joint Leadership Committee.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The matter has been coordinated with the office of the District 5 incoming supervisor.
FINANCING:
There is no financial impact to the General Fund due to the appointments listed in this report. Costs related to the operation of various boards, committees and commissions are funded in the appropriate departmental budget related to their operation.
