RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Authorize the Auditor-Controller to amend the FY 2013-14 budget for the District Attorney; increasing revenues and appropriations by $1,007,300 in DIS001 (4/5's vote required).
SUMMARY:
The District Attorney requests the Board of Supervisors approve a modification of the FY 2013-14 budget to reflect the posting of the District Attorney's external bank account into the County Financial System. This account is utilized for the Witness Relocation Program and other sensitive investigative accounts and has no financial impact on the General Fund.
DISCUSSION:
The District Attorney (DA) maintains a separate checking account with an external financial institution to support its Witness Relocation Program, Victims Emergency Fund, Asset Forfeiture Fund distribution and for the Consumer/Environmental Investigation Funds. These funds are provided directly to the DA by state and private trust accounts for the unique investigative and support activities supported by the DA. The Auditor/Controller has requested these financial assets and expenditures be posted into the County financial system; this budget modification will support those efforts by providing the necessary appropriations within the budgeting system for this Fiscal Year.

When authorized by the Board, this action authorizes the amendment of the FY 2013-14 budget for the District Attorney; increasing revenues and appropriations by $1,007,300 in DIS001. There is no financial impact on the General Fund.
