SUMMARY:
The proposed Agreement defines the responsibilities for Rancho Cielo’s reimbursement of lunches provided by the Probation Department for participants in Rancho Cielo’s Youth Build program.
DISCUSSION:
Probation has been heavily involved in the development of Rancho Cielo and its juvenile programs since inception and is a close partner and supporter of the organization.
The Youth Build Construction Academy is a program managed by Rancho Cielo, where students, age 17-25, are engaged in classroom, vocational activities and workshops providing employment readiness and skills in construction jobs. As part of their day, lunches are provided at no cost to program participants.
Rancho Cielo is contracting with the County of Monterey to provide the service and reimburse the Probation Department for the cost of lunches for the program. Probation’s Youth Center kitchen staff prepares an average of 20 lunches, typically Monday - Thursday, for program participants.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The agreement has been approved by County Counsel as to legal form and by the Auditor-Controller as to fiscal terms.
FINANCING:
Rancho Cielo will reimburse Probation in the amount of $3.15 per lunch to cover the expenses of providing the service.
