a. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute an agreement with ALCOR Scientific, Inc. for maintenance services of the iSED (equipment name) ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate) Analyzer at NMC for an amount not to exceed $1,780 with an agreement term retroactive of June 15, 2024 through June 14, 2025.
b. Approve the NMC’s Chief Executive Officer’s recommendation to accept non-standard indemnification, insurance, limitations on liability, and limitations on damages provisions within the agreement.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:
a. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute an agreement with ALCOR Scientific, Inc. for maintenance services of the iSED (equipment name) ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate) Analyzer at NMC for an amount not to exceed $1,780 with an agreement term retroactive of June 15, 2024 through June 14, 2025.
b. Approve the NMC’s Chief Executive Officer’s recommendation to accept non-standard indemnification, insurance, limitations on liability, and limitations on damages provisions within the agreement.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The ISED ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate) instrument improves efficiency by providing instantaneous results with full automated workflow. Compared to manual method, ISED requires less than 96% less hands - on time and reduces turnaround time up to 94% for patients. The ISED instrument bring a good approach by directly measure RBC (red Blood Cells) aggregation and available in seconds.
Service contract is needed to continue with blood testing at Natividad Medical Center without delay and compromising patient care. This contract includes: troubleshooting, access to a hotline for issues and changing parts, as needed. With this preventative maintenance service contract, it will prevent emergency repair which can be costly and effect patient care.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved this agreement as to form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. The agreement has also been reviewed and approved by NMC’s Finance Committee and by its Board of Trustees on June 14, 2024.
FINANCING:
The cost for this agreement $1,780 of which is included in the FY 2024-25 Recommended Budget.

Preventive maintenance and service hotline available always is a required service for our lab instruments to ensure effective treatments are being rendered in the best possible manner and to prevent delay of results.
