a. Approve and authorize the Contracts Purchasing Officer or Contracts Purchasing Supervisor to sign Lease Amendment 1 to Lease No. L-0058 with the State of California Department of General Services and CAL Fire to implement modifications to the Lease Payment provision and permit removal and installation of alternative Telecommunications Equipment at the site; and,
b. Approve payment of prorated-rent in an amount not to exceed $480.00 for rent beginning March 1, 2016 through June 30, 2016; and,
c. Accept Non-Standard County Liability, Indemnification, and Insurance Provisions as recommended by the Director of Emergency Communications.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Contracts Purchasing Officer or Contracts Purchasing Supervisor to sign Lease Amendment 1 to Lease No. L-0058 with the State of California Department of General Services and CAL Fire to implement modifications to the Lease Payment provision and permit removal and installation of alternative Telecommunications Equipment; and,
b. Approve payment of prorated-rent in an amount not to exceed $480.00 for rent beginning March 1, 2016 through June 30, 2016; and,
c. Accept Non-Standard County Liability, Indemnification, and Insurance Provisions as recommended by the Director of Emergency Communications.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The current lease is being amended to increase the amount of shelter and antenna tower space required for public safety radio communications equipment related to the Next Generation (NGEN) Radio Project. As such, the costs listed in the original Lease Payment Schedule must be increased to reflect the additional leased space.
The lease amendment will permit the installation and operation of telecommunications equipment in order to promote improved communications throughout South Monterey County as required by the NGEN Project users and agencies.
Additionally, the County of Monterey will install communications equipment in the shelter and on the tower to enhance the existing analog overlay radio communications system. This equipment will be installed by the Monterey County Department of Information Technology (ITD). Monterey County ITD will provide ongoing maintenance of this system.
A copy of this Agreement is on file with the Clerk of the Board.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
This Lease Amendment has been developed in close communication with and concurrence of the Monterey County Information Technology Department (ITD).
FINANCING:
The proportion of equipment that ITD maintains at this site will be paid for through ITD funds that were built into the FY 2015-16 site fees. The NGEN proportion of equipment at this site will be funded through NGEN Operations and Maintenance.
