SUMMARY:
The Information Technology Department (ITD), along with Vision Internet, Inc., has developed a new website design for the County of Monterey (County).  The new design resulted from discussions with internal staff from multiple County departments; it is also based upon public outreach, utilizing survey responses from close to four hundred residents, businesses, and visitors.  These responses contained suggestions about County website content, presentation, and functionality.  The report attached describes in further detail how the project was developed and what criteria formed the basis for website design.  The website has been developed looking to the future, incorporating dynamic functionality and easily adaptable content management.  It incorporates processes for continued improvement through public input. The cost of the migration of content to the new website is being borne by ITD except where changes to that content or design may be requested.  Each department has provided a contact that will be trained by ITD to make any desired changes to their individually allocated department website.

DISCUSSION:
Full details of the new website's flexibility are included in the attached report and will be demonstrated during the visual presentation to the Board.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Development of the website is an ongoing, cooperative effort between all departments and the County Administrative Office.

FINANCING:
There is no impact to the General Fund by receiving this report or approving the design and structure of the new Monterey County website; the costs of new website design implementation are already encompassed in the existing budgets of the Information Technology Department.
